Cacao Fruit Hefeweizen (Cuveé 2026)
A classic German style Hefeweizen with a subtle tropical twist. This beer has NO chocolate flavour, but it does contain the fruity part of the cocoa pod, which is reminiscent of lychee fruit.
The typical Hefeweizen banana esters are complemented by the pineapple notes of the El Dorado hops and the tropical, lychee-like flavour of the cacao fruit juice. This is cloudy, smooth beer that can increase in complexity with significant ageing.
All our beers are bottle conditioned, which means that active yeast is included in every bottle. This leads to a rounder, more balanced profile, and allows the beer to mature and mellow over time. Whether or not you choose to pour the yeasty sediment in your glass is up to you, but it is highly recommended for hefeweizens!
Beer style: Hefeweizen is a German wheat beer that is unfiltered, resulting in a cloudy appearance due to the yeast remaining in suspension. It is characterized by its fruity and spicy flavours, often featuring notes of banana and clove, and is brewed with at least 50% malted wheat. Typical commercial examples include Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, and Paulaner Hefeweizen.
